You can't compare the SGH-E900 to another touch screen phone the KG800 model from LG, known as Chocolate. Despite the fact that LG loses market to Samsung sometimes they can really hit with their product. For example LG has announced a touch screen cellphone earlier then its rival. Samsung though by getting a chance of observing product's behavior on the market has taken an advantage and made all necessary changes to improve. It could have been done on purpose just to avoid a big risk of being the first . But who knows. So, what do we have now? Two sworn "friends" - Samsung SGH-E900 Phantom and LG KG800.
I'd like to admit that both phones are worth having a look at. You can't say that one or another is either better or worse. Both of them have its advantages and disadvantages. For example, in Chocolate navigation button just like the rest of keys is sensor based , E900 though it's a regular button.
Samsung E900 is very comfortable to use because sensor buttons are only for quick soft navigation and calling buttons. On the other hand, a mix of physical and sensor buttons is quite uncomfortable, as you constantly have to jump from touching the button to pressing another and vice versa.
Appearance and design
The phone has a mat plastic surface that is pleasant to the touch and not slippering in the hand. The front panel is plastic as well but in glamor black color. Combination of red color and chromized parts on the front panel gives the phone a business style.
Slider is very comfortable for speaking on the phone as well as for working with the applications. It has a very good size that can fit in the shirt, jacket, bag and even jeans.
The body itself is not very practical as the fingerprints are seen on the screen and on the glamor parts. I don't think it is the best looking phone on the market, but it is by no means ugly.
To take the battery cover off you should slightly press on it and then pull.
Keypad
The main selling point for this phone is the touch sensitive buttons under the screen that control 'menu' and 'cancel'. This is perhaps my only big criticism of the phone. Even though I love the idea, the buttons are very sensitive, and it is very frustrating when typing a message if u accidentally hit one and delete your whole message (as you can imagine!!!).
There are three special keys to activate and work with player.
There are loads of features to play about with, and ones that I don't need to explain - like Photo phonebook, video capture, triband ability and more. The digital keypad is made of solid mat plastic. They are comfortable even after a long time typing or playing the game. Metal insertions among the buttons doesn't allow you to press the wrong key.
Samsung's bright highlight is automatic. You can set its time work through the Setting option.

There is a volume button on the left side of the phone and on the opposite side is Camera activation/ MP3 button located.
Display
TFT, 240x320, 30x40mm, 262144 colors.
The color rendering quality is perfect, though in a sun it looses color a little bit. Sometimes it’s difficult to see a picture and it's a big minus.

Camera mode is situated on a back side of the panel. There is no special key to activate the camera. It is activated either be pressing navigation key up or from menu. The shot is fixed with the OK key. The 2 mega pixel camera is very good quality and produces some good images, even when put on the PC and enlarged. There is even a small mirror and a flash by the camera lens, to ensure that all your self-portraits will be perfectly framed and in the shot.
Sizes, Ports and Slots
Further down on the right-hand side is the only charging port that doubles up as a headphone port and on the bottom there is a slot for memory card mcroSD (Transflash). This phone doesn't have infrared. The E900 comes with a handsfree headset that lets you receive calls and listen to music. Unlike the LG Chocolate's extremely functional headset, this headset doesn't have any dedicated music controls and isn't as eye catching.
Menu
As you can see E900 has an extraordinary interface, though it doesn't really differ from the previous one. This interface shows the sub menu list from the main menu and highlights fonts for optimal viewing.
The main menu can be presented as a set of icons or as a list. There are only two skins (also known as themes) that you can set to either black or white, and you are limited to ten message tones without the choice to add your own.
The Message memory can fit up to 200 SMS a 20 more on Sim-card. The SamSung SGH-E900 adopts the T9 technology as its text entry.
The maximum size of MMS and e-mails is 300kb each.
The SGH-E900 provides a phone book with a capacity of 1000.In one entry you can store name, phone numbers (in all 4 of them: cell phone, home, work, fax), email and picture. There are no default caller groups, you should create by yourself.
We have noticed several disadvantages that in this phone you can't set MP3 ring tones to vibrate and only certain tones will vibrate as they play--Samsung gives you the option to set the phone to vibrate before it rings but only a few ring tones will actually ring and vibrate at the same time.
Another thing that I liked in this phone is Image Editor where you can put different effects on your picture and send via e-mail, Bluetooth or
MMS.
